Announcement by the Center for Israel Studies
For the third academic year, SIS professor Guy Ziv is hosting his semester-long series of student lunch discussions on Israeli current events. These informal, off-the-record conversations about Israeli politics engage students who are familiarized with current Israeli affairs or interested in discussing Israeli current events.
“I created the lunch discussion series for the same reason I initiated the student blog: to seek out multiple pathways of engaging AU students interested in Israel beyond the classroom experience. The lunch discussion series has turned into a wonderful forum for both undergraduate and graduate students who hold disparate views on Israeli politics to come together and discuss – and occasionally debate – the relevant issues of the day and their implications,” says Professor Ziv, “These outlets, coupled with the numerous events put on throughout the year by the Center for Israel Studies (CIS), have enhanced student involvement in the intellectual life on campus pertaining to Israel and, by extension, have made CIS more relevant to them.”
Free shawarma and falafel is provided to students at every lunch! The first lunch of the semester will be on Tuesday, September 4 from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
Future Fall 2018 semester lunches will be held on September 25, October 9 and 23, and November 13 and 27, in the Battelle Tompkins History Lounge, Room 130 from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
Please RSVP for the lunches so an appropriate amount of food is ordered. Sign-up for the next lunch!
